<Coexistence>

We plant stories in nature, allowing people to feel closer to it through those narratives.

In this exhibition, we have imagined a timeless folktale to connect the space with its visitors. The village becomes a garden, and its residents become the audience.

A familiar garden reveals a new face by embracing unfamiliar traces. MACHO’s SACHUNKI becomes the hand that designs and connects these traces. They turn into imagination, and imagination weaves new stories that fill this space.

1 Exhibition Room : Trace

Material| Plants, Artificial plants, Fabric, Plastic, Sponge

Size | Dimensions: 2 × 4 m, height 0.3–2.2 m

This work holds traces left by an unknown presence. Confronted with these marks, the audience is invited to wonder about its identity and embark on their own journey in search of answers.

“Unknown traces have unsettled daily life across the land. At sunset, close your doors, extinguish the lights, and hide all signs of presence.”

One day, a poster appeared in the village square, stirring whispers among the people.

Amid the sunlit plants, strange marks were discovered. Unfamiliar colors spread across the leaves, and foreign materials clung to the branches.

The nation’s gardens had transformed into landscapes where order and chaos intertwined. Until the true nature of this figure was revealed, the poster warned, people were to conceal themselves each evening.

Exhibition Highlight
Discover the mysterious traces and imagine their form.

2 Exhibition Room : Figure

Material| | Artificial plants, Fabric, Plastic, Sponge

Size | Dimensions: 2 × 3 m, height 0.3–2.2 m

The audience expands their imagination by engaging in activities to uncover hidden forms within this space. In doing so, the open-ended story is completed through their own interpretation.

As night fell, women drew their children deep inside the house, while men in the fields hurried home as if vanishing from sight. One by one, doors closed and lights went dark, and the village sank into silence.

Then, from afar, the faint sound of pungmul music drifted closer. What began as a festive rhythm transformed into an uncanny resonance. Bursts of light flickered, and with each beat, a strange presence seeped into the village.
